In October 2019, Maddison Yetman of Winnipeg was diagnosed with cancer. She was only 18, and she learned she could die in days. You might think voting in the upcoming Canadian federal election wouldn’t matter to Yetman. But she voted for her first and only time. “If I can find the time to vote,” Yetman tweeted, “you can find the time to vote.” Her video went viral. Sadly, she died on November 16, 2019. But Yetman’s passion inspired many Canadians to vote.
